AUGUST SOUL & SPIRIT

CREATING PEACE

with Janine Quine

As women, we interact with others, we talk to our children, and we care about the future. So being aware of the impact of some of our historically held prejudices or ignorance are important to explore.

Women are essential for creating peace. We recognise the mutuality of inner peace and outer peace because we recognise the need to change attitudes we hold within ourselves and then within society. Women have been leading the move to challenge ideas about how we view violence against women, but what happens if we are not aware of attitudes and prejudices we hold that create barriers to peace? In this interactive workshop you will participate in small groups or one whole group depending on numbers, to consider topics you choose from a menu. Topics will include indigenous perspectives on political/social issues that continue to create suffering; refugee issues; war; etc. We will draw on your knowledge and wisdom to reflect on the outer peace and its connection to inner peace.

Janine Quine, formerly a teacher, is the mother of three grown sons and a daughter.  She is an ACU educator of undergraduate mainstream students, and Indigenous students from remote communities.

Over the years, Janine has developed a deeply personal and professional commitment to working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities.  Their significant contribution to her understanding of their concerns, and the valuing of their culture, has enriched her teaching of education students who are expected to embed Indigenous perspectives in the curriculum.

Janine also works as the Community Engagement Facilitator.  Among other things, she is part of an ACU project that brings a Liberal Arts degree to the places where those who are marginalised and disadvantaged live and a member of Sandgate and regions ‘Year for Peace’.

SECRETS OF THE COSMOS – As Above So Below

An Introductory Lecture to Astrology
By Jeanni Monks

Astrology says that the laws that guide the Universe also guide humanity. We are not separate from the Universe – we are part of it. Its energies are our energies, and if we understand how these energies work, by tuning into the cosmos, we unlock the door to our unconscious minds for greater self-understanding.

The Soul’s purpose is to learn different lessons through a myriad of life-time experiences, and to gradually walk the path towards peace – wholeness. The birth chart is our personal soul script of the potentials and challenges/lessons each one of us has chosen to use and learn about in this lifetime.

Come and discover how astrology, as an art and a science, has the answers to our existence as divine evolving souls here on planet Earth. ‘How we each have a divine soul purpose and what that may be’!

All participants will receive a printed copy of their unique Natal Birth Chart blue print, so please book early and provide your date, time and place of birth, so that Jeanni can prepare your unique birth chart to give you at the lecture.
