Friday Women Weaving Stories

  • Womenspace 11 Second Avenue Sandgate, QLD, 4017 Australia (map)

Our presenter is Karen Allen with the facilitator Janine Quine.

Karen and her mother migrated from England to Australia when she was 11 years old.

For decades, Karen’s commitment to social and environmental justice has seen her involvement

in various movements that focused on peace, anti-nuclear and now, Karen is a climate change

activist. At 80, she has slowed down a little but continues to be involved by raising awareness.

Here is Karen’s invitation to us all:

“What do Joan, Jo, Margaret, Betsy + Peg, and Georgia have in common?

Please come along and listen to my stories and find out.

Looking back on my long life I had quite a few jobs before going to Uni as a mature age student and

graduating with a BA in Library Science.

My library career actually began in the historic Sandgate Town Hall, just a short walk away from

where we are to meet.

A clue about Margaret, she changed my life but never knew that she had done so.

Maybe you could guess who she was?”

We are looking forward to welcome Karen to Womenspace and trust many will be attending - arrival at

6pm for 6.30start, light refreshments.

$5 donation and raffle and door prize at the entry.

RSVP by SMS to 0434 357 862
